20/04/10 Millennium Stadium, Cardiff
Kerry Ballard (our Managing Director) attended the 'Partnerships with Bangladesh' International Trade Exhibition at the Millennium Stadium. This event was organised by Venture Wales & the Welsh Assembly Government & the Wales Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce. Kerry was an exhibitor at this event and gave a five minute presentation on the company's principle services to over 150 delegates & entrepreneurs from Bangladesh and all over Wales, including His Excellency Dr M Sayeedur Rahman Khan the High Commissioner of The Peoples Republic of Bangladesh. The purpose of this event was to develop new contacts with key decision makers from Bangladeshi business, network and spearhead new business accordingly. This really was a very good event and already it has developed into potential new business for our company. Many thanks to Sean Hamill & Leanne Edwards, the WAG and all the staff at the Millennium Stadium for a lovely day. Also, many thanks to Harcourt Litho of Swansea, who pulled out all the stops to print & deliver our rollup banner stand for this event at short notice - we would recommend them to any business!

16/04/10 Photographic Business Skills Event
Kerry Ballard attended the 'Photographic Skills Seminar' at the Norwegian Church, Cardiff Bay. This event was organised by skillset.org (The Sector Skills Council for Creative Media) & Ffotogallery (the National Development Agency for Photography in Wales), which examined the strengths of a business model and how to deliver effective marketing results. Two keynote speakers presented during the day; Lisa Howe from Skillset, gave an interactive presentation on marketing as a Freelancer or SME, followed by Damien Lovegrove, one of the UK's most successful wedding photographers, who spoke about marketing, sales, finance and customer care skills. The event was a great session with over 100 creatives attending, many of whom Kerry networked with. Many thanks to the staff at the Norwegian Church - the food was excellent.

04/03/10 Welsh Assembly Event
Kerry Ballard attended at another speed networking session at Esis, Nantgarw, Treforest, nr Cardiff. This event was again organised by the Welsh Assembly with around fifty companies in attendance. Yet again it proved to be a productive evening, with many new business contacts forged. Once again, the staff at this venue provided excellent food and the facilities were extremely good.

18/02/10 Welsh Assembly Event
Kerry Ballard attended a 'Women in Business - How to Tender' event held by the Welsh Assembly, at the Village Hotel, nr Juntion 32, M4, Cardiff. Various speakers from Local Authorities in Wales, Development Officers & Business Champions from the Welsh Assembly & Venture Wales, spoke to approximately 100 ladies from a cross section of businesses, about the intricacies of applying to Local Authorities & government agencies for tender contracts. At the end of the day there was a very useful speed networking session. The food provided by the Hotel was delicious (highly recommended) and the facilities were excellent. If you're thinking of holding any meetings at a local Cardiff venue, I can say that I was very impressed with the Village Hotel.

Blog 18/01/10 USA
In December 2009 we went to California on a business expansion visit for a month. Having visited Los Gatos & Campbell, San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles, Corona & a brief trip to Las Vegas in Nevada, we realised that the Silicon Valley represents many major opportunities for the company to develop in the United States. We met many new business contacts and forged some lasting partnerships. We would like to thank everyone we met, for their time and professionalism and we look forward to continuing our exisitng partnerships & developing new ones in the beautiful state of California. Incidentally, we flew Virgin Atlantic from LHR to SFO and their service on the Airbus A340-600 was impeccable and offered great value for money. We would recommend Virgin Atlantic in an instant, despite flying British Airways on many previous occassions.

Blog 15/06/09 Tarpon 100 Kayak
We purchased a Wilderness Systems Tarpon 100 Kayak. Okay, this might seem a fairly random thing to do, but there is a serious business side to this decision. To facilitate access to marine wildlife, we've been reliable informed by experts in the field, that approaching marine birds in particular, from the water, lends itself to better photographic opportunities than when approaching from the land. In line with our article we've been working on for BBC Wildlife Magazine, we felt a Kayak would present new imaging possibilities that we may never have been in a position to capture on film before. In line with meeting local regulations, Kerry is undergoing training to become fully qualified in the discipline of Kayaking and will be joining Cardiff Canoe Club/Welsh Canoe Association accordingly. Gear will be carried in Peli Cases or Lowepro Dryzone 200 rucksacks. It's time to get wet!

Blog 01/06/09 AVIVA
AVIVA are now providing us with company healthcare cover. AVIVA's agent that handled our new policy was Paul Roberts of Cardiff Healthcare. Paul helped us through a fairly complicated process of understanding the policy in a very friendly & professional manner. We can recommend Paul to any other business thinking of taking out healthcare cover accordingly!

Blog 20/04/09 David Lloyd Cardiff - Junior Tennis Tournament
Kerry Ballard was appointed the official photographer of this exciting tournament. The standard of tennis over the three days was amazing, reflected by some of the 3000 images taken.

Blog 25/02/09 Focus on Imaging
As indicated below, Kerry attended the show and captured some great images of Katie Green on the 'Lastolite' stand. These images will be tweaked and added to the site in the next few days. Thanks for taking the time to have a chat Katie, I know how busy you are and I hope you're not too exhausted at the end of the show today!

Blog 24/02/09 Focus on Imaging
Kerry's off to the 'Focus on Imaging' exhibition at the NEC, Birmingham. This is Europe's biggest annual imaging show with over 200 exhibitors and product launches galore - including all the very latest digital cameras and processing equipment - pure heaven! She may see you there.

We're hoping to take delivery of a new commercial VW medium sized van in the very near future. It will be marked with high impact graphics and will no doubt be very noticeable around Cardiff & along the M4 corridor to London. Let us know what you think if you see it on the road.

Blog 18/02/09 Bacon & Egg Rolls
Now, it has to be said that we know a thing or two about 'food on the go', what with our worldwide and national interests. Being British we know a thing or two about breakfasts and with a wealth of experience in roadside, cafe, hotel & restaurant food across the UK, we can say we're experts at spotting something special; you know - great food, good value and people who serve it with a warm smile & friendly personalities, just what you need to kick start the day. Well here's a little secret; if you live in Cardiff or perhaps are passing through on business, get yourself over to B&Q Superstore at Pontprennau, Cardiff Gate Retail Park. [Directions - just off the A48 as you leave the A48M heading westbound towards the city or heading west on the M4, leave at Junction 30 turning left and Cardiff Gate is right at the next roundabout]. Inside the store is 'Cafe' which is managed by Carol. On a recent visit to the store we stopped for brunch. A bacon & egg roll was made to order by Annette and it has to be described as the best we've had - simply delicious. The coffee was great and most importantly it didn't cost a king's ransom as there were plenty of 'special' offers available! The staff are really friendly for as long as we've been going there and it's the sort of facility where you could hold an informal business meeting with great communications nearby. Anyway, we just want to recommend 'Cafe' as a quality oassis in a dessert of blandness. Thanks Carol & Annette - we hope to see you again soon.

Blog 06/01/09 Studio Relocation
We need to relocate our studio to Cardiff. However, that's proving to be quite a challenge as there's a clear shortage of quality premises suitable for our type of business. We thought we had found a unit in Cardiff Bay - only to find the rental and rates were astronomical despite the credit crunch! You'd think that landlords would be keen to negotiate fair rentals just to offload empty premises - but it appears they're not too focused on the numbers and perhaps haven't realised we're in a recession! Anyway, if you are a landlord and you have a suitable premises i.e. it has space for a media design environment and separate zones for a photographic studio we'd be delighted to hear from you.

Blog: 07/11/08 Wildlife Article
We've been building an article over recent months at Dezines Internet Solutions Limited, on the relationship between natural wildlife and the development of Cardiff Bay and the use of the shipping port and the impact that may have.

As a Nikon professional photographer Kerry Sian Ballard has captured some amazing images of the wildlife within Cardiff Bay. The Cormorant for instance has proven to be such an effective marine hunter, grappling with mature Salmon and Seabass of around 10kg before manipulating them with its ice pick bill and swallowing them alive. However it is a delicate little bird, the 'Kingfisher', that has proven to be the most difficult to photograph. The bird although regularly sighted within the wetlands alongside the St David's Spa Hotel & on the periphery areas of the Bay, due to its speed and shy nature, has proven quite reluctant to be photographed. Kerry has spent nearly five months on location, patiently waiting to capture the perfect image of this beautiful little bird as it dives into the water, hunting small fish.

Over the months, many visitors and local people have chatted with Kerry and come to learn of the Kingfisher's presence in the Bay, which has no doubt generated further interest & appreciation of just how priveleged we are to have such fascinating & beautiful wildlife in Cardiff Bay. It seems that despite the development of Cardiff Bay, natural wildlife has adapted well.

Once the article is completed, we will be approaching BBC Wildlife magazine for submission. In due course, some of the images will be available to view on the website. Thanks to all the ornothologists & enthusiasts, that have spoken with Kerry and passed on some very helpful information - your input is very much appreciated.

Blog: 09/07/08 Katie Green
We used the D3 to capture the images of Katie Green on a shoot at 'The Wharf', Cardiff Bay and we were delighted with the results. That day, the UK's Daily Express newspaper were trying to locate Katie to confirm that she was the new face of 'Wonderbra' but she was with us on a photoshoot in Cardiff Bay! Katie was over the moon about the almost unbelievable news of her success following a photoshoot with zillions of other modelling hopefuls at a 'Wonderbra' shoot earlier in the week. The D3 enabled us to capture some fabulous pictures of Katie and with the very challenging conditions of the day (it was gloomy and pouring with rain) we still had a wonderful portfolio, something not possible with any other camera. The Nikon D3 maintains our workflow and keeps costs within budget. Thanks to Uzair Kharawala for his assistance and input - we look forward to hooking up again Oz.

Katie is now working for 'Ultimo' the lingerie brand and we wish her every success for her professional modelling career.
