DEZINES Internet Solutions Limited and Trusted Xperts Limited were delighted to have received the Secretary of State for International Trade the Rt. Hon Dr Liam Fox MP and his team today Saturday 2nd December 2017.

The Secretary of State having only just returned from his ten day tour to Asia the Middle East and Australia, visited DEZINES and Trusted Xperts as part of Small Business Saturday. For our businesses to be selected from all across the UK was a great honour and very much appreciated.

Most of the discussion was about the opportunity for International Trade post Brexit, and the Secretary of State shared a number of very relevant views having spoken with opposite politicians and leaders in the countries visited. This was an extremely valuable insight as far as Trusted Xperts Limited was concerned and the Secretary of State gave us his endorsement and support as that model evolves.

GDPR Directive May 2018

DEZINES Internet Solutions Limited has recognised that the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Directive which becomes effective from 25th May 2018, will impact heavily on companies and organisations throughout the UK - many of whom do not have an effective management system to control the Personal Information they hold about their customers.

Overview of the GDPR Directive

The UK Government has confirmed that the UK’s decision to leave the EU will not affect the commencement of the GDPR. With so many businesses and services operating across borders, international consistency around data protection laws and rights is crucial both to businesses and organisations, and importantly to individuals as security breaches by leading brands has become far more common.

In principle Personal Information Data should be processed lawfully, fairly and in a transparent manner. Additionally accuracy is also a key requirement as will be the security of how that Personal Information Data is stored. The Data Controller shall be responsible and able to demonstrate compliance with the GDPR principles.

T here are some exceptions to GDPR e.g. Law Enforcement and matters of National Security, but in the main and just like the DPA (Data Protection Act), the GDPR applies to ‘Personal Information Data’. The GDPR’s definition is however more detailed, and makes it clear that information such as an online identifier e.g. an IP address, can be regarded as Personal Information Data. The more expansive definition provides for a wide range of personal identifiers to constitute Personal Information Data, reflecting the fast moving changes in technology and the way organisations collect information about people - particularly online.

For most organisations, keeping HR records, customer lists, or contact details etc, the change to the definition should make little practical difference. The GDPR applies to both automated Personal Information Data and to manual filing systems, where Personal Information Data is accessible. This is wider than the DPA’s current definition, so the changes are far reaching.

G DPR refers to sensitive Personal Information as “Special Categories of Personal Information”, although these are broadly inline with the current DPA.

Who does GDPR apply to?

The GDPR applies to ‘Data Controllers’ and ‘Data Processors’. The definitions are very similar to that under the current DPA i.e. the Controller says how and why Personal Information is processed and the Processor acts on the Controller’s behalf. If your company are currently subject to the DPA, then you will also be subject to the GDPR Directive from May 2018.

Lawful Processing of Personal Information

There is a great deal of relevant information about the GDPR on the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) website that we encourage you to look at for all the details about Lawful Processing of PI and the other Key Areas of the GDPR , Accountability & Governance , Breach Notifications , Transfer of Data and National Derogations etc. This article is a 'head's up' that the GDPR will impact your company or organisation without doubt in 2018.

Our website developments always include detailed 'Cookies', 'Privacy' and 'Terms of Use' Policy statements, and we never pre-populate opt-in check boxes with a tick ... the individual always has to manually select such opt-in options ensuring compliance from early and quality interactions.

The Personal Information Data stored on the websites we build is therefore in a highly secure environment from the start. DEZINES are truly delighted to have changed our energy supplier, and are now being supplied with eco friendly electricity from 100% renewable sources.

This compliments our use of a 100% zero emission Nissan Leaf company car, and in fact now means that we will not require a power station to generate electricty to recharge the batteries. By using 100% renewable electricty we can categorically say that our electric vehicle is now 100% green.

Friars Walk Newport Opens

DEZINES Internet Solutions Limited were very pleased to be at the official opening of the brand new £190Million Friars Walk shopping centre on Thursday the 12th May 2015.

The flagship Debenhams store was by far the biggest draw to customers that had gathered in inclement weather conditions, but with other big brands such as H&M, Next, Jack & Jones, JD Sports, Mothercare, New Look, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Pandoro, Schuh, Topshop, Prezzo, Waggamama, River Island, Body Shop, Tiger, Cineworld and many many more, the people of the City of Newport were very excited to say the least.

Friars Walk was officially unveiled by the First Minister of Wales - the Right Honourable Carwyn Jones AM, with other local government officers also present. Debenhams was officially opened by the renowned Welsh fashion designer Julian Macdonald.

Changes to Payment Processing

All major internet browsers (e.g. Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox) are changing the way that they validate website security certificates to ensure the highest security level for users when making payments. As a result of this change, end customers of online businesses may see security warnings (e.g. browser errors, security certificate warnings) on their web browsers when using a secure website. This will only happen if the website they are visiting is using an older security certificate.

To address this issue, Payment Gateway's (along with the majority of online banking web sites) are updating web certificates for all payment pages and forms. The update will occur automatically with no action required from your business.

Additionally, this change will not impact the majority of online shoppers apart from a small fraction who are using very outdated browsers on old computers. These shoppers will not be able to transact on any payment processing or online banking facility which has made these industry-wide changes.

If you have been impacted by this change, then simply upgrade to an up to date internet browser. This is strongly recommended to address this issue as well as for a number of other security and usability reasons.

Total Lunar Eclipse

Professional photography is a serious part to our business, whether it be product imaging, corporate shots, or where we supply public sector contracts, nature and natural wildlife photography is amongst our favourite area of expertise.

On Monday the 28th September 2015, we were up and about at 3am, to capture the total Lunar Eclipse that was visable across Western Europe, a good proportion of North Eastern and South America, North Western Africa and Antartica. We haven't seen a combination of a Total Lunar Eclipse and a Supermoon since 1982, and it won't happen again until 2033, so we felt from a historical photographic point of view, that it was very important to record this phenomenon.

Using a Nikon D3 DSLR and a range of telephoto and super-telephoto lenses, we were able to capture the entire eclipse from start to finish.

It's not just beautiful photography that is becoming more useful to businesses - they also recognise the power of motion graphics and video animations, which can contain large amounts of beautified information in a 60 second short film - another area of our creative expertise.

As busineses understand the need to differentiate their service offerings from their competition, we will see a huge explosion in businesses investing in high quality PaaS ecommerce platforms, visual media and photographic services.Thinking of the Apollo Lunar Missions in the 60's and 70's it's hard to appreciate that we have more computing power in our PaaS (Platform as a Service) technology than a typical lunar mission spacecraft. WW1 Memorial Plaque - River Usk

DEZINES Internet Solutions Limited are very pleased to have been a sponsor for a new plaque commissioned and placed on the bank of the River Usk, Newport - to commemorate the lives of the men of the Monmouthshire Regiment (Territorial Force), who took part in the defence of the Frezenberg Ridge, during the Second Battle of Ypres, Belgium, during the early stages of World War 1.

At this battle, (during which the German Army used poison gas for the first time on the Western Front), the three battalions of the Monmouthshire Regiment, held the line. The Monmouthshire's heroic stand on the 8th May 1915, against great odds, helped prevent the Belgian city of Ypres, from falling into enemy hands, and the German Army advancing to capture the vital English Channel ports.

The Second Battle of Ypres lasted from 22nd of April to 25th May 1915, and as result of the conflict, 526 men of the Monmouthshire Regiment were killed or died of wounds, and 799 were wounded.

More than 80 Newport men were lost on the first day of the Frezenberg Ridge engagement alone.

As a registered Nikon Professional commercial photographic company, we already use a large range of Nikon pro equipment, and although we never really thought the D3 could be improved on (it was revolutionary to the professional photography sector in 2008) - the new D4S is another massive evolution for DSLR camera technology, particularly with its improved ISO range for fast action photography in low light conditions.

Newport City Mayors Visit

The Mayor of Newport Councillor Cliff Suller and the Mayoress Christine Suller attended DEZINES Internet Solutions Limited with two students from Llanwern High School , as part of the Mayor's campaign to show support to businesses based in Newport.

The students that shadowed the Mayor during his campaign were Summer Blanks (second from the left) and Kurt Blandford (on the right), and both expressed their particular career path interests for the future.
